I commissioned Mallika to design and teach a new online adult learning course on food writing as part of the British Library’s annual food season. She was bursting with ideas from the outset. Without prompting she nailed the relevancy of her sessions and tackled timely topics head on, such as cultural appropriation of recipes and representation in the food industry. Mallika brought a fresh perspective to the basic principles of food writing, and harnessed her expert knowledge of the food and communications industries to set her practical advice in context. I particularly admired how she drew upon the wisdom of her peers, always lifting up and highlighting the work of other inspiring food writers. On top of all that, she interacted with our course participants in a warm, witty and sensitive manner. I look forward to working with Mallika again.
